Learn how every meal provides an opportunity to promote brain health.
Aging in dogs and cats results in many metabolic, functional, and physical changes in the brain that, if severe, lead to cognitive dysfunction syndrome (CDS). Many age-related changes are undesirable, potentially irreversible, and decrease the quality of life for pets and their owners.

Every meal can become a brain health-promoting tool when an aging pet’s diet includes specific key nutrients that target age-related changes.

What you will learn
By attending this webinar, you will gain a greater understanding of the following:
The role of the gut microbiome, oxidative stress, inflammation, and alternative metabolic pathways in the pathophysiology, progression, and management of cognitive dysfunction syndrome.
Nutritional interventions and dietary supplements—including antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, medium-chain triglycerides, and other specific nutrients—that have been studied for their effects on cognitive function, brain health, and canine CDS.
Selection of appropriate dietary interventions and supplements based on patient age, health status, and cognitive function, and how to introduce these in client conversations.
How to monitor and assess a dog’s response to nutritional management of canine CDS, including how to evaluate changes in cognitive function, behavior, and quality of life.
The importance of regular follow-up and adjustments to a patient’s nutritional plan based on a dog’s response and ongoing clinical assessment.
