DESCRIPTION:Subject: Beyond Wildlife Anesthesia of Zoletil: A comprehensive overview of its use in Veterinary Anesthesia\nSpeakers: Dr Kenneth Joubert\nOrganizer: Virbac\nLINK: REQUEST RECORDING – support@vetlink.co.za \nKenneth Joubert\, BVSc (UP) MMedVet (Anaes)\, Specialist Anaesthetist \nKenneth graduated with a BVSc from The University of Pretoria in 1995. After graduating he joined small animal practice in Johannesburg for 2 years before returning to the University of Pretoria. In 2000 he obtained a MMedVet (Anaes) and held the position of senior lecturer in anaesthesiology at the university. In 2004 he left the university to re-join private practice before starting his own referral practice in anaesthesiology\, pain management and critical care. Kenneth has publish 34 scientific publications\, delivered 53 scientific presentations\,\ndelivered over 120 continuing education talks\, done 9 multimedia presentations\, published 37 non-scientific articles\, presented 3 course\, written one book chapter and attended 56 congress of continuing education. Kenneth currently holds an extra-ordinary lecturing post in\nPharmacology in the department of Paraclinical Sciences at the University of Pretoria and runs a private practice dedicated to anaesthesia\, analgesia and critical care. He has regularly examined students in pharmacology\, anaesthesiology and clinical studies.\nKenneth has a keen interest in total intravenous anaesthesia\, intensive care\, ventilation and cardiology. His research interests included non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents\, anaesthetic depth monitoring and total intra-venous anaesthesia. \nDisclaimer: This information is exclusively intended for registered veterinary and para-veterinary professionals.

SUMMARY:IDEXX | Early Cancer Diagnosis: Don’t Miss the Warning Signs
DESCRIPTION:Subject: Early Cancer Diagnosis: Don’t Miss the Warning Signs\nSpeakers: Dr Dana Connell\nOrganizer: Idexx\nLINK: REGISTER HERE \nThis session will focus on the consideration and diagnosis of cancer earlier in the clinical course with integration into the existing clinical algorithm. The gathering of information starts from history-taking with emphasis on specific open-ended questions. A physical examination can offer several worrisome clinical signs leading to a suspicion of cancer. Armed with this information\, routine blood work and diagnostics able to be performed in-house or at the reference lab starts to round out this clinical picture and helps to form a differential list for specific cancers. This differential list can be used to guide further recommendations to clients\, including diagnostics (including those that can be performed at the clinic and those that are advanced)\, referral to specialty hospitals\, or empirical therapy. The session will then close with an overview of the current offerings of diagnostics on the market which may aid in early detection of cancer in companion animals. \nLearning Objectives:\n1. Recognize specific questions that can be easily integrated into current history-taking techniques to maximize information which may lead to a suspicion of cancer in the patient with specific and non-specific clinical signs.\n2. Recall portions of the full physical examination necessary to be included in every patient examination to detect potentially subtle changes which can indicate early formation of cancer.\n3. Understand strategies for reviewing routine blood work to gain additional insights into body systems and changes which may be a sign of cancer.\n4. Learn strategies to identify appropriate recommendations for clients based on these early signs\, with focus on additional diagnostics.\n5. Review currently offered diagnostics to aid in the early diagnosis of cancer in canine and feline patients. \nDisclaimer: This information is exclusively intended for registered veterinary and para-veterinary professionals.
