She will provide an overview of the stress pathways in the body and how chronic stress can alter these pathways. The major focus of learning once the stress pathways and patient reactions are established is to realize how these changes affect the cat in various ways such as behaviour and disease. Dr Marks uses this knowledge to share best practices for a cat in hospital and at home. \nGuest speaker: Dr Natalie Marks – Medical Director @ Blum Animal Hospital\nDr Marks obtained her bachelor’s degree with High Honors in Animal Science from the University of Illinois. Then\, she received a master’s in veterinary medicine and a DVM degree with High Honors from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She became a Certified Veterinary Journalist in 2018. Dr Marks has been an active board member on many associations so far in her career as well as receiving many prestigious awards in her career. She was awarded the Dr Erwin Small First Decade Award in 2012\, the Petplan’s nationally recognized Veterinarian of the Year. In 2015\, she was awarded America’s Favourite Veterinarian by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation. And most recently\, in 2017\, she was awarded Nobivac’s Veterinarian of the Year for her work on canine influenza. Dr Marks finds the ideal combination of teaching/mentoring and improving the emotional health of pets in the Fear Free movement. She is an Elite Fear Free Certified Professional.
