Course 1
Point-of-care ultrasound

An abdominal and thoracic focused assessment by sonography for trauma or lung ultrasound is the first scan that should be performed in any dog presenting with a respiratory or abdominal emergency. Point-of-care ultrasound topics and principles will be covered during an hour-long demonstration on a live dog. This will be followed by a two-hour session during which the learning will be re-enforced with all participants practicing the demonstrated techniques and watching colleagues practice the techniques.
Course 2
Basic echocardiography
3 hour practical course
(Max. 10 delegates)
Sunday, 16 February 2025, 14:00 – 17:00
Cost: R 4500
After this course the practitioner will be able to assess basic heart function and doppler flows with the aid of an ultrasound machine. Views and parameters will be explained and demonstrated by the instructor during an hour-long session on a live dog. This will be followed by a two-hour opportunity to practice your newly acquired echocardiographic skills on live dogs.
