Kyron Scripts is pleased to invite you to attend the Kyron Wildlife Veterinary Workshop 2025. A hands-on, practical learning experience for veterinary professionals working in the field of wildlife health and conservation.
This intensive three-day workshop aims to empower attending veterinarians with theoretical knowledge and practical demonstrations, delivered by experienced wildlife clinicians and multidisciplinary medical professionals.
Workshop Focus:
The workshop will centre around the Low-opioid Darting Protocol, with a focus on the use of Medetomidine for wildlife immobilization, providing the latest updates in field immobilization.

• Introduction to low-opioid use in chemical immobilization
• Use of Medetomidine in wildlife immobilization
• Practical chemical immobilization procedures on:
o White Rhino
o African Buffalo
o Sable & Roan Antelope
o Spiral-horned Antelope: Eland, Kudu, Nyala
o Small Antelope: Impala, Springbok, Blesbok
• Bull fertility testing and demonstration of semen collection
• Ultrasound scanning and oocyte collection in adult White Rhino
• Anaesthetic monitoring: ECG, pulse oximetry, and blood gas analysis
• Anaesthetic associated mortalities in wildlife: Diagnostic challenges & consequences presented by Dr Johan Steyl
• Human drug exposure: field emergencies and handling
• Human trauma management: emergency care protocols in the field
CPD Accreditation:
This workshop will be CPD accredited by the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC). Final CPD point allocation will be confirmed once the process is complete.
The workshop is open for Veterinarians, CCS Veterinarians, Veterinary nurses, as well as some limited space for Onderstepoort Veterinary students.
Workshop Costs:
• Shared Accommodation: R3,950.00 (excl. VAT) per person sharing.
• Single Accommodation: R4,300.00 (excl. VAT) per single room Course fees include accommodation for two nights, as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
