IDEXX | September VetSpecialist Exchange Webinar – Canine Worms: The Role of Testing and Guidelines in a Rapidly Changing Landscape
Wednesday 23 September @ 20:00 - 21:30
Subject: Canine Worms: The Role of Testing and Guidelines in a Rapidly Changing Landscape
Speakers: Dr Ian Wright

Was that negative fecal test enough to rule out parasites? Diagnostic sufficiency depends on which parasite you’re ruling out — roundworms, tapeworms, and lungworm (Angiostrongylus vasorum) don’t all show up the same way on the same tests. This session reviews current ESCCAP and CAPC recommendations, shifting geographic and epidemiologic trends in Echinococcus multilocularis and A. vasorum, and how routine testing and preventative treatment complement each other — so you can evaluate whether a patient’s testing and prevention history genuinely means the patient is clear, or whether parasites are still on the table.
Presenter: Dr Ian Wright is a practicing veterinary surgeon, practice co-owner, parasitologist, and Chairman of ESCCAP, with over 130 peer-reviewed publications on companion animal parasite control.
