Using clinical case examples, this webinar will focus on nutrition as a component of multimodal management of feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC), including research related to dietary strategies using in the management of FIC, as well as hydration and feeding behavior strategies that optimize the indoor environment. Topics will include an overview of FIC pathophysiology and its impact on the human–animal bond, as well as evidence-based nutritional strategies that support cats with chronic lower urinary tract disease. Discussion will highlight the role of therapeutic urinary diets, practical methods for increasing hydration, and feeding and environmental strategies that align with multimodal environmental modification (MEMO).
Learning objectives
After this webinar, attendees will be able to:
â–ª Develop a tailored MEMO plan for cats that present with acute and chronic lower urinary tract signs.
â–ª Develop a tailored diagnostic plan for cats that present with acute and chronic lower urinary tract signs.
â–ª Explain the role of nutrition within a multimodal approach to FIC management, including how dietary strategies support urinary health and hydration goals.
â–ª Identify practical methods to increase water intake in cats with FIC and develop feeding strategies that promote urine dilution.
