Meet our speaker : Marta Costa, DVM, MSc, FRCPath, DipECVCP, MRCVS
Marta graduated from FMV-UTL in Lisbon in 2001 and spent five years in small animal practice and clinical pathology. She completed a Master’s in Medical Microbiology in 2007 and lectured at Universidade Lusófona. In 2009, she moved to the UK for a residency at the University of Bristol, later becoming a lecturer and earning both her FRCPath and ECVCP diplomas. Since 2020, she has worked at IDEXX UK as a Clinical Pathologist and Deputy Head of Veterinary Clinical Microbiology. Marta is a board member of ECVCP and active in the ESGVM/ESCMID. Her interests include infectious disease diagnostics, antimicrobial sensitivity, biomarkers, and microscopy. Outside work, she enjoys family time, countryside walks, gardening, and learning the cello.
