Pet owners may want to know more about pet food, but the conversations are sometimes challenging. Obstacles to diet discussions and their potential solutions will be addressed. Core communication skills and how to apply stages of change theory to nutrition consultations will be presented.
Learning outcomes:
• Understand the obstacles to incorporating nutrition discussions into practice and ways to deal with these challenges.
• Know how to approach owners who are reluctant to discuss diet.
• Understand the stages of change.
• Understand the core communication skills necessary for having a diet discussion.
